Private Flute Instruction
Lesson Length
30 minute lessons are encouraged for the beginner – early intermediate level students.
45 to 60 min. lessons are encouraged for the late intermediate – advanced level students.
Lesson types
Topics that will be covered in the flute lesson are as follows:
flute repertoire, theory, technique, sight reading, rhythm, and ear training.
Beginners
It is never too late to learn an instrument. However, I do not recommend beginning flute until the student is able to read fluently. For beginners, I generally commence with the Essential Elements for flute. However, students who have books from previous teachers or older siblings, should bring those books and I will try and keep the cost of books and supplies to a minimum.

Intermediate/Advanced
As students become more advanced in their musical studies, their styles begin to form. This includes what they enjoy playing. I encourage being well rounded in all genres of music. Therefore, I will incorporate sacred(if desired), classical, theory, ear training, along with the “fun songs”. This will broaden their flute repertoire.
